A collective body of work spanning literally millions, and millions of years, The Quadrasesery are the Goddesses of the four Elements, Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind, necessary for all of earths existence.
Directly translated, “The Four Sisters”, The (modernized) Quadrasesery is a unique perspective on conservation, human history and our systems of belief in general.
From the encyclopedia Britannica: "the deus otiosus, Latin for “hidden, or idle, god” - is one who has delegated all work on earth to what are called “nature spirits,” which are the forces or personifications of the forces of nature.
- The personification of these spirits, or this case, Goddesses, is left to individual perception, but of course the existence and functionality of earth, fire, water & wind, is inarguable.
With eons separating their emergences, Zeme "The Eldest", is the oldest, while opposite twins, Vanduo and Ugnis are the middle sisters, with Vejas being the youngest.
Several reasons: It is often believed that to visually behold, or look upon the face of God/ a god, would cause one to die from shock, or simply cease to exist; So the Goddesses faces have remained forever covered, never to be seen in their physical manifestations.
Furthermore, their masks dually represent the pollution of humankind and our need to adapt for survival.
Zeme's mask is halved vertically, signifying her awareness of disfigurement (by humanity), and our requisite of technology to persist. Vanduo & Ugnis wear respirators, representing their twinship, and again, the viral effects of humanity.
While Vejas does not wear a mask, as she is not bound to the same physical laws as her sisters, it has been said that she cannot be viewed without consequence unless her eyes are closed or shielded, hence her avian goggles, which also refract aerial pollutants.
As depicted in countless sculptures and illustrations the world over, ancient cultures have perceived the well endowed, particularly in regards to women, to be the alpha(s). Enlarged phallic or mamma references, symbolize the ability to better reproduce or care for young, ensuring the furtherance of our species. As civilizations developed, Gods & Goddesses were portrayed in superior physical conditions, representing the ideal human form.
The Quadrasesery's appearance, is amalgamated from the historical references above; delineating the modern, universal acceptance of beauty and perfection.
Additionally, they are meant to be racially ambiguous, with olive toned skin, non distinct to any particular race or geographic region.
